Yelling isn’t the solution

… and that’s what I did today at work with two guys.

They had some dispute about whose duty is to clean the area near the CNC machine where they work. As a general rule, when the second shift is working on that machine, they help each other in the last 15 minutes of the first shift. But today was not an ordinary day.

Because they were very angry with each other (past conflicts also) and I couldn’t make them stop yelling, I raised my voice even higher. For the moment, I settled the altercation, but not definitely.

Every time I tell myself that yelling, as a supervisor, is not the right way of managing people. Almost every time, I end up raising my voice to settle it.

So, I hate it, and I’m sorry now.
