Functional illiterate is what I hate most about the world

There are so many things to hate. From politics to climate change and back to misinformation on social media. But what is the most crucial one for taking steps towards changing it?

For me, it is functional illiteracy.

A person is functionally illiterate who cannot engage in all those activities in which literacy is required for effective functioning of his group and community and also for enabling him to continue to use reading, writing and calculation for his own and the community’s development. ¹

When one person cannot read and write, the whole society endures. That person is much easier misinformed by social media and takes worse decisions about his life and personal finances.
