Engineers with MBA

I’m a mechanical engineer, and from my personal experience, I can tell you that engineering is not just technical. Products are made with people and for people, and managing people is a skill that needs to be nurtured.

Also, engineering is made with money, and you need to convince non-engineering people to invest in your business. Doesn’t matter how well engineered your product is. You need to be capable of speaking both languages - engineering and business.

Maybe you are not interested in a top-level management position, but as an engineer for sure, you will have to manage a team. Even if you’re just a shop floor supervisor, you need to be a leader.

If you are thinking about it, go for it. It’s a good thing.
